Andonovski Names Final 23-Player Roster for 2020 SheBelieves Cup, Presented by Visa

USA Will Face England, Spain and Japan in Fifth Annual Tournament

CHICAGO (Feb. 26, 2020) – U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Vlatko Andonovski has named the 23-player tournament roster for the 2020 SheBelieves Cup, Presented by Visa, which features the top-ranked Americans, No. 6 England, No. 10 Japan and No. 13 Spain. All of the matches will be shown on ESPN networks.

All four teams made the knockout rounds of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup last summer in France. England, Spain and Japan have also announced their tournament rosters.

The U.S. roster features all 20 players who helped the Americans win the 2020 Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament in early March and earn a berth to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Of the three players on this roster who were not on the Olympic qualifying squad, two were on the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup championship team in forward Mallory Pugh and defender Tierna Davidson. Three players who were not on the World Cup Team made the 2020 SheBelieves Cup roster in defender Casey Short, midfielder Andi Sullivan and forward Lynn Williams.

Should midfielder Julie Ertz play in the opening game against England, it will mark her 100th cap, making her the 40th U.S. women’s player to hit the century mark. Several players may represent the USA at their clubs’ home stadiums (Exploria Stadium in Orlando and Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.) during the tournament. Three players play for the Orlando Pride in defender Ali Krieger, goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris and defender Emily Sonnett, while two others play for Sky Blue FC in forwards Carli Lloyd and Mallory Pugh.

The U.S. team is currently in training camp in Orlando preparing for the first match on March 5. The three players in training camp who did not make the final tournament roster are goalkeeper Jane Campbell, defenders Margaret Purce and midfielder Jordan DiBiasi.
