USMNT Rewind: Christian Pulisic Bags Brace, Tim Weah Scores in UEFA Champions League

The past week was full of action for U.S. Men's National Team players. From Christian Pulisic’s dominant brace in AC Milan’s Serie A win to Tim Weah’s goal for Olympique de Marseille in the UEFA Champions League, Americans made their mark in the biggest moments across the globe.

Let’s rewind through the biggest USMNT moments over the last week:

Christian Pulisic Bags Brace

In AC Milan’s 3-0 victory against Udinese, Christian Pulisic accounted for two of those goals. In the 39th minute he scored the game-winner, then came out of the locker room firing to record the brace in the 53rd minute. It was the USMNT veteran’s fourth goal in five matches this season across all competitions. His three Serie A goals lead the league. The score also put the winger ahead of USMNT legend Clint Dempsey with most all-time goals scored (59) by an American in Europe’s top five leagues.

Tim Weah Scores in Opening UCL match

Tim Weah began the UEFA Champions League campaign with new club Olympique de Marseille in style, scoring the opening goal in the opening group match against Real Madrid. The goal came in the 22nd minute as Weah’s teammate Mason Greenwood slyly stole the ball from a Real Madrid defender and began a break that culminated in an assist to Weah. It was Weah’s second UCL goal and his first with Marseille. Real Madrid won the match 2-1 after two penalties by Kylian Mbappé.

Chris Richards a Difference-Maker in EFL Cup

Chris Richards is mostly known for helping Crystal Palace keep clean sheets, but every now and then the center back finds the back of the net. The EFL Cup match between South London rivals Crystal Palace and Millwall was one of those moments. Richards subbed on in the 61st minute with the match scoreless, and he broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute. While Millwall equalized just before the final whistle in stoppage time, Palace advanced in the tournament in a penalty shootout, where Richards calmly netted a kick from the spot.

Matt Freese Tallies Eighth Clean Sheet

NYCFC defeated Charlotte FC 2-0 in a battle between two of the top-ranked teams in MLS Eastern Conference. Goalkeeper Matt Freese collected his eighth clean sheet in 27 starts for the fourth-ranked team in the conference. Freese sits tied for fourth in the league in shutouts. He made two saves in the match against Charlotte including denying a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Freese and New York’s win pushed the club in the league table to tie No. 3 Charlotte in the point race with 53.

Malik Tillman Earns Man of the Match Honors

Malik Tillman delivered a standout performance for Leverkusen in the 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach and fellow USMNT players Joe Scally and Gio Reyna. Tillman scored the opening goal in the 70th minute and played the full 90 minutes. His performance earned him Man of the Match honors, highlighting his growing influence in the midfield for his new club after transferring from PSV this summer.

Tanner Tessmann Secures First Goal of Season

Tanner Tessmann scored the lone goal in Lyon’s 1-0 victory over Angers in Ligue 1 play. Following a saved header attempt by his Lyon teammate, Tessmann reacted quickly to slam home the rebound in the 65th minute. It was his first goal of the 2025-26 season and his second total for Lyon since joining the French squad in 2024.
