Nominated for the fourth-consecutive time, the 2020 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year picked up right where he left off, lifting a trifecta of trophies for club and country.

Before casting your ballot for U.S. Soccer’s 2021 Player of the Year awards, here’s a rundown of McKennie’s body of work for country and club this year:

  • At powerhouse Juventus, McKennie became the first U.S. international to win both the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup.

  • McKennie played a vital role in the Coppa Italia title, providing the assist to Dejan Kulusevski to open the scoring in Juve’s 2-1 win against Atalanta on May 19.

  • Finishing the 2020-21 season with five goals in Serie A, he set a new record for goals by an American in the Italian top-flight and helped Juve to a fourth-place finish and qualification to 2021-22 Champions League.

  • The momentum carried into the summer for the United States, where his game-tying goal in the inaugural Concacaf Nations League championship led to a 3-2 extra time victory against Mexico and Man of the Match Honors, along with the title of tournament MVP and a spot on the Best XI.

  • McKennie continued to be a nemesis against El Tri, putting the ‘dos’ in Dos a Cero when he scored the insurance goal in the 2-0 win against Mexico in the World Cup Qualifier on Nov 12 in Cincinnati.

McKennie was voted 2020 Male Player of the Year. This is his fourth consecutive year as a finalist for the award.
