CHICAGO (Dec. 9, 2019) – Forward Madison Haley and defender Naomi Girma from the freshly minted 2019 NCAA Champion Stanford Cardinal have been ruled out of the U.S. Women’s National Team Identification Camp due to injuries suffered during the NCAA College Cup.

In addition, Chicago Red Stars midfielder Danielle Colaprico will also not attend the camp due to an injury.

USWNT head coach Vlatko Andovoski has added two players – forward Morgan Weaver and midfielder Makamae Gomera-Stevens – from the Washington State Cougar team that made a Cinderella run to this year’s College Cup before falling in the semifinal to eventual runner-up North Carolina.

The 5-foot-10 Weaver, who has spent time with the U-23 USWNT, is Washington State’s second all-time leading scorer and led the team in scoring all four years of her career. She tallied 15 goals with five assists this season in leading her team to the Final Four, where she scored the Cougars’ lone goal in the 2-1 semifinal loss to the Tar Heels.

Gomera-Stevens becomes just the second player from Hawaii to earn a senior WNT call-up following Natasha Kai, who played 67 times with the USA from 2006-2009 and won an Olympic gold medal in 2008. Like Kai, Gomera-Stevens hails from the island of Oahu.

Gomera-Stevens had an excellent NCAA Tournament and she scored five goals with five assists this past season. This is the first senior team call-up for both players.

The changes leave the USA’s training camp roster at 23 players.
