Soccer is more than a sport; it is a force for good. It is our collective responsibility to grow the game in our communities for the next generation.
The Soccer Forward Foundation, our 2026 FIFA World Cup legacy program, will support our ecosystem’s efforts to expand access to soccer in your local communities, helping the game reach more people and create lasting change.
To capitalize on the increased awareness and excitement around the World Cup, Soccer Forward has launched ahead of the event with an initial focus on four key areas:
- More places to play
- Provide advocacy tools and resources to develop new soccer spaces and increase availability of existing spaces
- Learn more here
- More soccer in communities and schools
- Equip members and local leaders with tools and resources to help communities and school districts deliver soccer in schools and community programs

- Collaboration and best practice sharing
- Establish a new digital resource center to share best practices from successful programs, including ITG-funded initiatives, that grow the game, reduce the cost of play, and expand access

- Marketing campaign promoting soccer participation
- Distribute marketing assets for local use in a ‘Participate in Soccer’ campaign, aligned with a national public service initiative to increase awareness and participation

To grow the game, we need to embed soccer into our communities and education system so that soccer becomes part of our children's sporting culture early on. We want to bring soccer to where the kids are, because we know soccer is more than a sport, it is a force for good.
