Current U.S. U-16 GNT Head Coach Ciara Crinion, Who Will Take Over the U-17s on the Road to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Begins Cycle with 22 Players Born in 2009 and Two in 2010

ATLANTA (Sept. 2, 2025) – The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team —with players whose primary birth year is 2009 — will come together for a training camp running from Sept. 7-14 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center located south of San Diego.

This is the start of the cycle for the players who will attempt to qualify for 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Current U.S. U-16 GNT head coach Ciara Crinion, who will transition to being the head coach for the U-17s for the next cycle, has called up 24 players, 22 born in 2009 and two born in 2010. Players born in 2009 will form the core of the group that will attempt to qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 WWC. This is the first training camp for this group of players at the U-17 level after transitioning from the U-16s this summer.

The players that will compete in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco this October will be born primarily in 2008.

Current U.S. U-17 WNT head coach Katie Schoepfer, who will coach the USA at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, will transition to the U-16s after the tournament to prepare that age group (2010 birth year) for qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The camp is part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
