ATLANTA (Sept. 29, 2025) - U.S. Men’s Cerebral Palsy (CP) National Team head coach Stuart Sharp has named his final 14-player roster for the team’s participation at the 2025 IFCPF Copa América from Oct. 8-18 in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
The participation in regional tournaments by U.S. Soccer’s Extended National Teams is part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for the Extended National Teams – including the CP National Teams – to ensure they are fully prepared to compete and succeed on the world stage.
“The past 11 months since the World Cup have been unique, bringing both challenges and new opportunities,” Sharp said. “It has been a positive journey that will strengthen us not only as we prepare to face our Group A opponents, but also for the future of this National Team. There is genuine excitement among the players to get started.”
The CP MNT will open the tournament on Oct. 11 against Argentina (11 a.m. ET), face hosts Uruguay on Oct. 12 (8:30 a.m. ET), and round out the group stage on Oct. 14 against Venezuela (11 a.m. ET). The top two teams in each group will advance to the semifinals on Oct. 16, with the winners playing for the regional championship on Oct. 18. All matches will be streamed live via the IFCPF YouTube channel.
Sharp’s squad features nine players that were part of the U.S. squad at the 2024 IFCPF World Cup, including goalkeeper Marc Estrella (Bakersfield, Calif.), midfielder Ben Lindau (Chicago, Ill.), forwards John Sullivan (Tucson, Ariz.) and Shea Hammond (Montclair, N.J.) and 2024 U.S. Soccer Male CP Player of the Year Jacob Crumbley (Fortson, Ga.).
In total, 13 players on the roster have appeared for the USA in at least one IFCPF World Cup, including veteran defender Josh Brunais (Stafford, Va.) and midfielders Adam Ballou (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Jonah Meyers-Crothers (Sylvania, Ohio), who all contributed to the team’s fourth-place finish at the 2022 World Cup.

OPPONENT HISTORY
The CP MNT has a long history with two of its three group stage opponents. The opening match against Argentina will present a tough test for the USA, who has gone 3W-8L-0D in 11 all-time meetings since 2014. Two of those matches came in Copa América play, with the U.S. falling 2-1 in the 2014 edition and 1-0 in the 2018 tournament. The USA has met Argentina each of the last two years, losing two emotional matches. The first was a 2-1 defeat at the 2023 Parapan American Games where the team got a goal from Crumbley and played down a man for more than a half. The other was a 4-2 loss at the 2024 World Cup, with goals from Lindau and Crumbley. The USA last beat Argentina at the 2019 World Cup, with both Lindau and Shea Hammond chipping in goals in the 6-0 victory.
Stuart Sharp’s side has had a relatively dominant run against Venezuela, going 6W-0L-1D in seven total matches since 2014. That record includes a 5-1 win against La Vinotinto at the 2018 Copa América, a match in which captain Josh Brunais contributed one of the U.S. goals. Most recently the two sides met twice at the 2023 Parapan American games. Hammond found the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win on November 22. Three days later, he provided a brace to go along with a goal from Frankie Lowery as the USA defeated Venezuela again to earn the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, the match against hosts Uruguay will mark the USA’s first-ever meeting against La Celeste in international CP football.
