Ian Carry Calls 14-Player U.S. Men’s Beach Soccer National Team Roster for Domestic Training Camp from January 18-23 in Fort Lauderdale

CHICAGO (Jan. 14, 2025) – U.S. Men’s Beach Soccer National Team head coach Ian Carry has selected a 14-player roster for the squad’s domestic training camp from Jan. 18-23 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The six-day camp will serve as the team’s final preparation before the USA attempts to qualify for its eighth FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup at the 2025 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship to be held March 11-16 in Nassau, Bahamas.
“We have learned a lot about the extended player pool over the past months, and as a staff, have narrowed the roster down to what we believe will provide us the best opportunity for success at the Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship,” Carry said. “With competition just around the corner, this currently is the sole focus of our preparation in Fort Lauderdale as the rewards will ultimately return us to the biggest stage of beach soccer, the World Cup in Seychelles.”
The veteran-heavy roster features 11 of the 12 players that represented the USA at the 2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, including 2024 Male Beach Soccer Player of the Year finalists Tanner Akol (Santa Cruz, Calif.), Alessandro Canale (Venice Beach, Calif.) and Antonio Chavez (Oceanside, Calif.).
Canale is also one of six players that returns to the squad after missing out on December’s Acapulco Beach Soccer Cup, and is joined by Chris Albiston (Virginia Beach, Va.), Nico Perea (Hollywood, Fla.), Nick Perera (Carlsbad, Calif.), Chris Toth (Fallbrook, Calif.) and Justin Trout (Virginia Beach, Va.).
A two-time winner of the Federation’s Male Beach Soccer Player of the Year, Perea is one of three players with ties to South Florida, and is joined by Andres Navas (Miami) and Conner Rezende (Davie, Fla.)
Once the team completes this month’s camp, Carry will work to finalize his 12-player squad for the Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship in March. Heading to the tournament as defending champions, the USA was drawn into Group B, where the team will face Trinidad and Tobago (March 11), host Bahamas (March 12) and Panama (March 13), before the semifinals and final on March 15 and March 16, respectively. The top two teams will qualify for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, to be held May 1-11 in Victoria, Seychelles.

- The roster averages 42 caps and 22 goals.
- Eleven of the 12 players were part of the roster at the 2024 FIFA Men’s Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai.
- Eight of the 10 players return from the squad that helped the USA claim third place at last month’s Acapulco Beach Soccer Cup.
- Along with being three of the four players who appeared in all 12 Beach MNT matches in 2024, Tanner Akol (8 goals), Antonio Chavez (4 goals, 4 assists), and Cody Valcarcel (2 goals, 6 assists) tied for the team lead with eight goal contributions each.
- Four players also currently represent clubs in the Major Arena Soccer League, with Alessandro Canale, Nick Perera and Chris Toth playing for the Tacoma Stars and Ricardo Carvalho representing the Milwaukee Wave.
- Following in the footsteps of Toth, both Canale (96 caps) and Perera (94 caps) are on the doorstep of becoming the second and third Beach MNT players to reach the century mark.
- Justin Trout is the lone uncapped player, and previously took part in his first Beach MNT camp last August in Oceanside, Calif.
