USMNT Assistant Coach Nico Estevez Departs U.S. Soccer to Take Head Coaching Job at Austin FC

CHICAGO (Oct. 25, 2024) - USMNT assistant coach Nico Estevez has departed U.S. Soccer to become the next head coach of Austin FC in Major League Soccer. The 44-year-old from Valencia, Spain, had returned to the U.S. staff this summer, having previously worked as an assistant from 2019-2021 under then-head coach Gregg Berhalter.

“We’d like to thank Nico for all his contributions to the program,” U.S. Soccer Sporting Director Matt Crocker said. “He’s a fantastic coach and an even better person. We wish him continued success.”

The U.S. Men’s National Team will face Jamaica in the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinal Round. The series opens Nov. 14 at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, with the kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET. Four days later, new USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino will coach his first home match in official competition on Nov. 18 in St. Louis at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT). [TICKETS]
