CHICAGO (Oct. 30, 2024) – The schedule for Matchday Three of the Qualifying Rounds of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is confirmed.

Seven of the 21 contests will be Final Rounders – with their winners moving through to the Tournament Proper. The remaining 14 winners will book a place in their own Fourth (Final) Round games, which will be played on the Fourth Qualifying Matchday on Saturday December 7 and 8.

The seven games with Tournament Proper spots up for grabs include a Pennsylvania classic between the historic Vereinigung Erzgebirge and West Chester United SC and an all-Virginia affair between ambitious new side Virginia Dream FC and the Aegean Hawks FC, founded in 1996.

New York City’s Metro area will be treated to a meeting of the NY Renegades and Lansdowne Yonkers FC, who are looking for a place in the Tournament Proper for the first time since 2023. The other remaining New York-based side, FCY New York of Buffalo, travel to the outskirts of Boston, Ma. to face historic CD Faialense – the new powers in the Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) who are looking to reach the Tournament Proper for the first time.

New Jersey Alliance FC take on Maryland’s Steel Pulse FC while, out west, old foes Azteca FC and Harpos FC play for all the marbles in Colorado.

The other 14 games of the Third Qualifying Round will see teams playing for places in their own Fourth and Final Qualifying Round berths, which will be played out in December. Among these are mouth-watering matchups between Chicago House AC – aiming for a place in the Tournament Proper for the third consecutive year – and Wisloka Chicago in Bensenville.

Darlings of the Tournament Proper in 2023, Tulsa Athletic, will once again host Woodland Football Club at their Hicks Park home base while, way out west, International San Francisco travel to take on Real Galt FC and San Diego Internacional meet Chula Vista FC.

These Open Division Qualifying Rounds will send 14 teams to the 2025 Tournament Proper. They will join up with USASA National Amateur Cup winner NY Pancyprian Freedoms, UPSL Spring Champion Soda City FC and 16 teams from the National League Qualifying Track, split between the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and USL League Two.

About the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer's Club Championship – has crowned a champion since 1914 in every year except 2020 and 2021. The 109th edition of the tournament concluded on September 25, 2024 with LAFC beating four-time Champions and fellow MLS side Sporting Kansas City 3-1 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles to become Open Cup Champions for the first time.

Our historic tournament is conducted on a single-game-knockout basis and open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.

The U.S. Open Cup winner earns $300,000 in prize money, a berth in the Concacaf Champions Cup and has its name engraved on the Dewar Challenge Trophy – one of the oldest nationally-contested trophies in American team sports now on permanent display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas. The Runner-up takes home $100,000, while the team that advances the furthest from each lower division earns a $25,000 cash prize.
