The schedule for Matchday Two of the Qualifying Rounds of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is confirmed.

The teams playing Second Round games on Matchday Two are three wins away from becoming one of the 14 amateur teams to qualify for the 2025 Tournament Proper via the Qualifying Rounds Track. Those playing Third Round Games will need two wins to reach the Tournament Proper.

Florida has 16 teams remaining after the First Qualifying Matchday – contested on the weekend of October 5-6. Miami United FC aim for a fourth straight trip to the Tournament Proper and face River Miami of USSL in their first Qualifying game after receiving a bye through the First Round. As part of the group of teams playing in the Second Round of the Qualifying Matchday Two, Florida’s winners this weekend will need two more wins (Third Round and Fourth Round) to book passage to the Tournament Proper.

The situation is the same for California’s 16 representatives, who are also playing for places in the Third Round (Semifinal stage). Among those Golden Staters are 2024 Open Cup veterans FC Folsom of UPSL and International San Francisco of the SFSFL, who beat SF Vikings SC 4-1 in the previous stage thanks to a pair of goals from former Open Cup Semifinalist Matt Fondy.

New York’s four representatives – as part of the Third Round Section – will be one win away from a place in the Tournament Proper if they emerge victorious from our October 26-27 Matchday. In action in the Empire State are Zum Schneider FC 03, who take on former USASA National Amateur Champions Lansdowne Yonkers FC and Long Island-based Leros SC, who meet NY Renegades FC.

Pennsylvania’s five teams would also be one win from the Tournament Proper with a win on this Second Matchday. In action are Vereinigung Erzgebirge and the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals, who won four Open Cups in the 1950 and 60s. The former Champs from Philly will have no easy go of it as they face West Chester United SC who hammered United German Hungarians 6-0 in the First Round.

Among other marquee matchups of Matchday Two is Chicago House AC taking on crosstown rivals the Chicago Strikers (UPSL) with a place in the Semifinal stage on the line, with the game included as part of the Second Round Section.

These Open Division Qualifying Rounds will send 14 teams to the 2025 Tournament Proper. The identity of seven of those teams will be known at the conclusion of Matchday Three and the other seven at the conclusion of Matchday Four. They will join up with USASA National Amateur Cup winner NY Pancyprian Freedoms, UPSL Spring Champion Soda City FC and 16 teams from the National League Qualifying Track, split between the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and USL League Two.

  • Matchday One: Saturday, Oct. 5 & Sunday, Oct. 6
  • Matchday Two: Saturday, Oct. 26 & Sunday, Oct. 27
  • Matchday Three: Saturday, Nov. 16 & Sunday, Nov. 17
  • Matchday Four: Saturday, Dec. 7 & Sunday, Dec. 8

About the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer's Club Championship – has crowned a champion since 1914 in every year except 2020 and 2021. The 109th edition of the tournament concluded on September 25, 2024 with LAFC beating four-time Champions and fellow MLS side Sporting Kansas City 3-1 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles to become Open Cup Champions for the first time.

Our historic tournament is conducted on a single-game-knockout basis and open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.

The U.S. Open Cup winner earns $300,000 in prize money, a berth in the Concacaf Champions Cup and has its name engraved on the Dewar Challenge Trophy – one of the oldest nationally-contested trophies in American team sports now on permanent display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas. The Runner-up takes home $100,000, while the team that advances the furthest from each lower division earns a $25,000 cash prize.
