GAME NOTES | FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

  • USWNT Starting XI Cap Numbers (Including this match): Morgan (214), Dunn (139), Horan (136), Naeher (97), Sonnett (80), Williams (58), Sullivan (52), Fox (36), Cook (28), Rodman (25), Girma (23)
  • Lindsey Horan will captain the USA for the seventh time this year and the 15th of her career as she earns her as she earns 136th cap. Horan leads the USA in minutes played in 2023 and has 29 international goals and 34 assists, one goal away from becoming the 16th player in USWNT history with 30+ goals and 30+ assists.
  • Alyssa Naeher will earn her 97th cap as she makes her 11th start of 2023 for the USWNT. Naeher has conceded just two goals this year and has eight shutouts, one away from matching her single year record with the USWNT set in both 2018 and 2019.
  • Alana Cook will make her seventh start and ninth appearance overall of 2023 as she earns her 28th cap overall for the USWNT. Cook scored her first international goal in the USA’s 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland on April 11, scoring from 40 yards out on her 26th birthday.
  • Lynn Williams will make her fourth start and 11th appearance overall of 2023 as she earns her 59th cap for the USA. Williams, who made her USWNT debut on October 19, 2016, in Sandy, Utah and scored just moments after entering the match, has three goals on the year, two of which came in her brace against South Africa on September 21.
  • After scoring in each of the USA’s September victories over South Africa, Trinity Rodman will make her ninth start of 2023 as she earns her 25th cap overall for the USWNT. Rodman is now second on the team in scoring this year, trailing only the injured Mallory Swanson who has seven goals, and is coming off goals in back-to-back games for the first time in her international career.
  • Alex Morgan will earn her 214th cap for the USWNT as she makes her 14th start of 2023, tied with Lindsey Horan for the most by any USWNT player this year. Morgan, who made her USWNT debut in Sandy, Utah in a memorable – and snowy – match against Mexico on March 31, 2010, has an assist in each of her last two appearances for the USA and leads the team with five assists in 2023, her most for the USWNT in a calendar year since 2013.
  • Emily Sonnett will earn her 80th cap for the USWNT as she makes her fourth consecutive start, her longest such streak with the USWNT since the end of 2019 when she made five consecutive starts. Sonnett scored her second career goal in the USA’s September 24 win over South Africa and becomes the 49th player in team history to earn 80+ caps.
  • Naomi Girma will make her eighth consecutive start for the USWNT, extending the longest such streak of her international career, as she earns her 23rd cap. Girma has played the full match in 16 of her previous 22 career appearances and has been a mainstay on a backline that has allowed just two goals total this year.
  • One of only two players to appear in every match for the USA this year, Andi Sullivan will make her 15th appearance of the year for the USWNT as she earns her 52nd career cap. Sullivan debuted for the USA in October of 2016, starting the USA’s October 19 match against Switzerland in Sandy, Utah and is third on the USWNT this year in minutes played.
  • Crystal Dunn will make her 13th appearance – and 13th start – of the year as she makes her 139th appearance all time for the USWNT. Dunn has four assists and two goals in five career appearances against Colombia, including a goal and an assist in the USWNT’s draw against Colombia during the group stage of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
  • Emily Fox will make 12th start and 14th appearance overall of the year as she earns her 36th cap overall for the USWNT. Fox is currently second on the team in minutes played in 2023 with 1,056, becoming the second player to cross the 1,000-minute mark for the USA this year. Lindsey Horan was the first and Andi Sullivan has since joined the 1K club.
