CHICAGO (Sept. 19, 2023) – U.S. Women’s Futsal National Team head coach Marcia Tafarel has selected 21 players to take part in the team’s second invitation-only Identification Training Camp from Sept. 21-24 at United Sports in Downingtown, Pa.
As part of U.S. Soccer’s strategic pillar to Develop Winning Teams, and continuing in the mission for the team to play its first matches in 2024, Tafarel has invited 10 Select ID players, along with 11 Invitation ID players who will be looking to impress for future consideration. The Select ID players are generally based on the west coast for this camp in the east, while the Invitation ID players mostly come from the east. This month’s camp follows the inaugural Futsal WNT Identification Camp that was held in California this past March.
“I am excited for the opportunity to hold our second Women's Futsal National Team ID Camp this week,” said Tafarel. “It will help us continue to advance in the process of putting together a Women’s Futsal National Team, allowing us to compete on the international stage and advance Women's Futsal in the United States."
As part of the Federation’s strategy to encourage, enable and celebrate the game in all of its forms, U.S. Soccer announced plans to organize the Futsal WNT at its 2022 Annual General Meeting. In December 2022, FIFA announced it had approved the addition of a FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup to its slate of international competitions. No timetable has been confirmed for the first FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup. UEFA has staged a European Women’s Futsal Championship since 2019.

The U.S. Women’s Futsal National Team is one of nine Extended National Teams operated by the U.S. Soccer Federation – the most of any federation in the world. Other Extended National Teams include the U.S. Men’s Futsal National Team, U.S. Women’s and Men’s Beach National Teams, U.S. Women’s and Men’s CP National Teams, U.S. Women’s and Men’s Deaf National Teams and U.S. Power Soccer National Team.
