Brady Earns First Nomination After Strong Goalkeeper Play Helped U-20 MYNT to Concacaf U-20 Championship
After backstopping the U.S. Under-20 Men’s Youth National Team to the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, goalkeeper Chris Brady has been named a finalist for 2022 Chipotle U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year.
For the second year in a row, fans will have the opportunity to vote on select Player of the Year Awards, with the fan vote comprising 15% of the total vote. Nominees for all awards are selected by U.S. Soccer’s technical staff. Voting for the awards starts Thursday, Dec. 15 at 11:00 a.m. ET and closes on Dec. 22 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced in the weeks that follow.

Let’s take a look at some of Brady’s highlights from 2022:
- Awarded the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper at this summer’s Concacaf U-20 Championship in Honduras, leading the USA to its third-straight confederation title, its first Olympic berth since 2008 and a ticket to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
- Didn’t allow a single goal during the four-game knockout stage, including shutouts against Costa Rica in the World Cup-clinching quarterfinal, against Honduras in front of a hostile sellout crowd in the Olympic-clinching semifinal and against the Dominican Republic in the championship match.
- Started six straight matches during the USA’s title run, allowing just two goals during 508 minutes in the net.
- Compiled a 6-1-2 record on the year, starting 9 of the U-20s’ 11 matches while allowing less than a goal per game.
- Made his Major League Soccer debut on Oct. 9, holding the visiting New England Revolution scoreless for 88 minutes before the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
- Led Chicago Fire FC II goalkeepers with 12 starts in the team’s inaugural MLS Next Pro campaign, recording five shutouts and allowing less than a goal per game.
- With Fire starting goalkeeper Gaga Slonina set to leave the club in the offseason, will have the opportunity to take an even bigger step in MLS this coming season.
