CHICAGO (October 18, 2022) – The U.S. Under-16 Women’s Youth National Team will hold a 23-player training camp at the Nike World Headquarters in Portland, Ore., running from Oct. 23-30. This will be the first event for new U-16 WYNT head coach Patchy Toledo, whose hiring was announced on Aug. 24, 2022.

U.S. U-16 WYNT ROSTER BY POSITION (CLUB; HOMETOWN) – OCTOBER TRAINING CAMP

GOALKEEPERS (3): Olivia Geller (Sting Dallas Black; Southlake, Texas), Molly Vapensky (Chicago FC United; Evanston, Ill.), Kennedy Zorn (SC del Sol; Peoria, Ariz.)

DEFENDERS (8): Mya Brandon (Michigan Hawks; Canton, Mich.), Jastel David (Legends FC; Corona, Calif.), Addison DeJoseph (UFA; Roswell, Ga.), Jordyn Hardeman (Solar SC; Midlothian, Texas), Daya King (Legends FC; Moreno Valley, Calif.), Kai Price (Concorde Fire; Atlanta, Ga.), Addison Stendera (Pacific Northwest; Fairwood, Wash.), Lily Yohannes (Jong Ajax; Amsterdam, Netherlands)

MIDFIELDERS (6): Kimmi Ascanio (Florida United; Doral, Fla.), Melanie Barcenas (San Diego Surf; San Diego, Calif.), Kennedy Fuller (Solar SC; Southlake, Texas), Hannah Jordan (Solar SC; Southlake, Texas), Ainsley McCammon (Solar SC; Bedford, Texas), Y-Lan Nguyen (VDA; Fairfax, Va.)

FORWARDS (6): Zoe Matthews (Legends FC; Southlake, Texas); Avery Oder (LAFC SoCal Youth; Calabasas, Calif.); Maddie Padelski (Tennessee Soccer Club; Nolensville, Tenn.), Chloe Ricketts (Michigan Jaguars; Dexter, Mich.), Lauryn Thompson (NC Courage; Wake Forest, N.C.), Mya Townes (TSJ FC Virginia; Aldie, Va.)

The age cut-off for this year’s U-16 WYNT Player Pool is Jan. 1, 2007, and 22 of 23 players in camp were born in that year. One player, midfielder Kimmi Ascanio from Florida, was born in 2008.

The roster is a combination of players who have experience with the U.S. U-15s and U-16s, and some players getting their first call-ups with the U.S. Women’s Youth National Teams program.

Nine players on the roster helped the USA win the 2022 Concacaf Girl’s U-15 Championship in August: goalkeepers Molly Vapensky and Kennedy Zorn, defenders Mya Brandon, Jordyn Hardeman, Daya King  and Kai Price, and midfielders Ascanio, Kennedy Fuller and Ainsley McCammon. Fuller led the USA in scoring in that tournament with nine goals while Ascanio had four.

Forward Melanie Barcenas, who hails from San Diego, has some experience with the U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team and has three international caps at that level.

The 23 players come from 17 different youth clubs and six players are from two different clubs in Texas, five from Solar SC and one from the Dallas Sting. Legends FC out of Southern California has three players on the roster. One player is based in Europe in Lily Yohannes, who was born in the USA but lives in Amsterdam, where she plays for Young Ajax.
