A red-hot Jesús Ferreira continued to fill the net with two quick goals to turn a potential loss into a victory for FC Dallas on Saturday.
Gio Reyna, Weston McKennie and Sergiño Dest enjoyed some memorable moments in their respective UEFA Champions League openers.
Gyasi Zardes reached another Major League Soccer milestone.
Ricardo Pepi and Jordan Morris set up teammates in shutout wins.
And not every member of the U.S. Men's National Team's pool had an opportunity to play as the English Premier League and Championship and Scottish Premiership called off games this past weekend after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
18 AND COUNTING
Jesús Ferreira tallied off two free kicks within a four-minute span to rally FC Dallas to a 2-1 comeback victory over the LA Galaxy on Saturday, Sept. 10, while tying the club’s season goal-scoring record (18). He scored the equalizer in the 78th minute after Franco Escobar fouled Marco Farfan on the outside the left side of the penalty area. FCD and USMNT teammate Paul Arriola caught the Galaxy asleep, tapping a quick free kick to Ferreira in the box who fired it home from four yards out to equalize.

In the 82nd minute, Ferreira drilled home a free kick from the right side into the lower left corner for the game-winner. The 21-year-old forward tied Jason Kreis (1999) and Kenny Cooper (2008) for the club’s single-season goals record with three games remaining. He also moved into a third-place tie in FC Dallas career scoring (36 goals in 111 matches).

Ferreira is fourth in the MLS Golden Boot race, trailing Nashville SC's Hany Mukhtar (22) by four goals. Dallas has three games remaining in the regular season.
A TERRIFIC TUESDAY
The opening day of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, Sept. 6 was a memorable one for three players.
Gio Reyna started Borussia Dortmund’s game on the bench, but he helped two teammates finish goals in a 3-0 home win vs. FC Copenhagen in Group G. Reyna, who replaced the injured Thorgan Hazard in the 23rd minute, became the first USMNT player to record two assists in a UCL match.
Demonstrating his versatility, Reyna set up teammates from both sides of the penalty area. On the left side, Reyna flipped a back pass to Raphael Guerreiro, who tallied from 10 yards for a 2-0 advantage in the 42nd minute. Reyna set up the final goal in the 82nd minute, sending a pass from the right side of the box to Jude Bellingham, who scored from 12 yards.
Weston McKennie, a halftime substitute for Fabio Miretti, headed home a corner kick from seven yards in the 53rd minute of Juventus’ 2-1 loss at Paris St-Germain in its Group H encounter in Paris. It was the former FC Dallas product and midfielder’s third UCL goal, moving him one behind DaMarcus Beasley for third among USMNT players. Leandro Paredes started the sequence with a short corner to Filip Kostic, who whipped in the ball from the left side for the U.S. international to head home at the back post.

It was McKennie’s 10th goal for Juve across all competitions.
Sergiño Dest made his A.C. Milan debut in its 1-1 Group E draw at RB Salzburg in Austria. He replaced David Calabria in the 57th minute. Dest joined Milan on loan from Barcelona at the close of the summer transfer window.
A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION
Ricardo Pepi, on loan from Augsburg, made his debut for Groningen a memorable one in the Dutch Eredivisie, assisting on the winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Cambuur on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Coming on for Florian Krüger at the start of the second half, the former FC Dallas forward intercepted a pass at midfield and sprung Tomas Suslov, who scored from the top of the box in the 71st minute.
WINNING DEBUT
Matt Turner's first game in the Arsenal nets was a memorable one, backstopping the English Premier League side to a 2-1 win at FC Zürich in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, Sept. 8.
The former New England Revolution goalkeeper made two saves, denying Ivan Santini on a stoppage-time header to secure the victory.
At halftime, the Gunners learned that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away. The team returned to the field wearing black armbands and a minute's silence was held before the second-half kickoff.
DOUBLE FIGURES
For the fifth time in his 10-year MLS career, Gyasi Zardes hit double figures in goals, helping the Colorado Rapids' to a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Zardes scored a 21st-minute equalizer and his 10th goal of the campaign, drilling a Felipe Gutiérrez feed past goalkeeper Cody Cropper. He has nine goals with the Rapids and one with the Columbus Crew this season.
Zardes also has at least 10 goals 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
HELPING OUT
Jordan Morris assisted on the Seattle Sounders' second goal in their 3-0 home triumph over Austin FC on Saturday, Sept. 10. With Seattle enjoying a 1-0 lead, Morris took a pass from Alex Roldan and set up Raul Ruidiaz’s second goal of the match, near the penalty spot in the 34th minute. Morris has four assists this season.

LOST WEEKEND
The death of Queen Elizabeth II led to all weekend matches in the English Premier League and Championship and Scottish Premiership to be postponed as a show or respect. Those matches will made up later this season. That affected 15 players from the USMNT pool:
