GAME NOTES | FIVE THINGS TO KNOW | BEHIND THE CREST EP. 1 | BEHIND THE CREST EP. 2

  • USMNT Starting XI Cap Numbers (including this match): John Brooks (42), Christian Pulisic (37), Weston McKennie (23), Sebastian Lletget (22), Zack Steffen (22), Josh Sargent (15), Antonee Robinson (11), Jackson Yueill (11), Sergiño Dest (9), Gio Reyna (6), Mark McKenzie (4)

  • Today’s Starting XI has an average age of 23 years, 259 days

  • The Starting XI averages 17 caps overall and six caps in official competition.

  • The USA lineup represents clubs in seven different countries: England (3), Germany (3), USA (2), Belgium (1), Italy (1), Spain (1)

  • Gregg Berhalter makes three changes from the Starting XI that faced Switzerland on Sunday, inserting Zack Steffen in goal, Antonee Robinson on the back line and Christian Pulisic on the wing.

  • At 23 years, 259 days, tonight’s Starting XI is the second youngest lineup fielded by the USMNT in official competition. The youngest XI registered at 23 years, 172 days in a 1-0 defeat to Colombia on July 5, 2007, in the final group stage match of that year’s Copa America when the team had already been eliminated.

  • Seven starters are age 23 or younger: Robinson (23), McKennie, McKenzie and Pulisic (22), Sargent (21), Dest (20) and Reyna (18).

  • Zack Steffen captains the USMNT for the fifth time tonight. The team is 2-1-1 when Steffen wears the armband.

  • Three starters will earn their first appearances in official competition for the USMNT tonight: Mark McKenzie, Gio Reyna and Antonee Robinson.

  • All three are dual nationals, meaning once the opening whistle blows, they will officially be cap-tied to the United States going forward.

  • Additionally, should dual-nationals Yunus Musah, David Ochoa, Jordan Siebatcheu and Tim Weah appear in tonight’s match, they would also be cap-tied to the United States going forward.

  • John Brooks and Mark McKenzie partner together in central defense for the second straight match.

  • The midfield trio of Sebastian Lletget, Weston McKennie and Jackson Yueill remains intact from Sunday’s match at Switzerland.

  • With three goals each during the group stage, McKennie and striker Josh Sargent sit tied for second in scoring among Nations League A teams. Teammate Jordan Morris has the current scoring lead with four goals.

  • The USMNT is 16-4-5 all-time against Honduras in a series dating back to 1965.

  • The teams have met 17 times in official competition, with the USA holding a commanding 12-2-3 record.

  • The USMNT is 17-6-3 in 26 matches under Gregg Berhalter.

  • Teams are allowed five substitutions in tonight’s match. Should the score be tied at the end of 90 minutes, the game will bypass extra time and move immediately to penalty kicks.
