GAME PREVIEW | FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ON TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

  • USMNT Starting XI Cap Numbers (including this match): Paul Arriola (35), Kellyn Acosta (25), Aaron Long (19), Sebastian Lletget (18), Jackson Yueill (9), Jonathan Lewis (7), Miles Robinson (3), Sam Vines (3), Jesús Ferreira (2), Aaron Herrera (1), Matt Turner (1)

  • Today’s Starting XI has an average age of 24 years, 246 days

  • The Starting XI averages 10 caps

  • Five players continue in the lineup that began the USMNT’s 6-0 win against El Salvador last month: defenders Aaron Long and Sam Vines, midfielders Sebastian Lletget and Jackson Yueill, and forward Paul Arriola.

  • Six players in the Starting XI are age-eligible for the 2021 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship in March: Jesús Ferreira, Aaron Herrera, Jonathan Lewis, Miles Robinson, Sam Vines and Jackson Yueill.

  • Two starters will make their USMNT debuts: goalkeeper Matt Turner and right back Aaron Herrera. The two first timers take the total number of debuts to 36 players in 23 matches under Gregg Berhalter – the most of any modern era USMNT coach at this point in their tenure.

  • With the USA’s run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup inspiring him to play the game, Matt Turner will earn his first cap for the USMNT 11 years later. Today marks his first appearance for the USA at any age level and he becomes the first goalkeeper to debut since Alex Bono on May 28, 2018 vs. Bolivia.

  • A product of the Real Salt Lake Academy, Herrera earns his senior-team debut on the back of three seasons for the club’s first team.

  • Aaron Long captains the USMNT for the fifth time tonight. The team is a perfect 4-0-0 when Long wears the armband, outscoring opponents 12-0.

  • Miles Robinson earns his first USMNT start tonight in his third overall appearance and first since the 1-1 draw against Uruguay on Sept. 10, 2019 in St. Louis.

  • On the five-year anniversary of his USMNT debut, Kellyn Acosta earns his first start since the 1-0 defeat to Italy on Nov. 20, 2018 in Genk, Belgium.

  • Sebastian Lletget earns his fifth-straight appearance for the USMNT tonight. With goals in each of his last two games, should he score against Trinidad & Tobago he would become the 11th different player to record goals in three consecutive USMNT matches.

  • Earning his 35th cap, Paul Arriola is the senior-most player in the Starting XI. Arriola makes his 18th appearance under USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter – the most of any player.

  • Forward Jonathan Lewis gains his second international start and first since the 1-0 win vs. Panama in the Gold Cup group stage finale on June 26, 2019 in Kansas City.

  • A day short of the one-year anniversary of his USMNT debut, striker Jesús Ferreira earns his second senior-team appearance.

  • Paul Arriola and Aaron Long are the two starters who featured in the last match against Trinidad & Tobago, a 6-0 win in the Gold Cup group stage on June 22, 2019 in Cleveland. The two players accounted for half the team’s goals that night, Long becoming the first USMNT defender two score two goals in a match, while Arriola record his fifth international goal.

  • The USMNT will dress 22 players for tonight’s match. Six substitutions will be allowed.

  • Striker Jozy Altidore, defender Julian Araujo and goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski will not dress for the match. While he could play, Altidore is being held out as a precaution. Araujo arrived in camp after recovering from illness and isn't fully fit. Marcinkowski suffered a mild right ankle sprain in training earlier this week.

  • The USMNT is 19-3-4 all-time vs. Trinidad & Tobago and 13-0-1 in home matches.

  • Hector Said Martinez of Honduras will officiate tonight’s match. He also served as the center referee for the last meeting between the two nations, a 6-0 USMNT win in the Gold Cup group stage on June 22, 2019 in Cleveland.
