NaTIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Thompson made her USWNT debut on Oct. 7, 2022, against England, coming on for Megan Rapinoe in the 84th minute in front of a packed crowd of 76,000+ fans. At 17 years and 334 days old, Thompson became the 70th teenager all-time to earn a cap for the USWNT and the youngest player to debut for the USA since January of 2016 when Mallory Pugh made her debut at 17 years and 269 days of age.
- With her call-up in October of 2022, Thompson became the youngest player to be called up for a full National Team camp since 16-year-old Sophia Smith was called up in April of 2017 for the training camp prior to matches against Russia in Texas.
- She made her first start and played the full 90 minutes for the USWNT on April 11, 2023 against the Republic of Ireland, becoming the first teenager to start a match for the USWNT since 2018.
- Thompson was also called into the USA’s November Camp in 2022 – where she celebrated her 18th birthday in camp on November 17 -- but did not dress for either of the year-end games against Germany.
- She has eight caps with four goals at the Under-20 international level and is age-eligible for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
PREVIOUS WORLD CUP EXPERIENCE
- Was one of the USA’s top players at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in August of 2022, where she scored against Ghana and had an assist against Japan.
CLUB HIGHLIGHTS
- Became the first high school-aged player and youngest draft pick in NWSL history when she went No. 1 overall in the 2023 NWSL Draft to Angel City FC at the age of 18.
- Was named the NWSL Rookie of the Month for March/April.
- Before signing with Angel City FC, Thompson played club soccer for the U-17 Total Futbol Academy boys’ team in MLS Next.
PERSONAL
- Daughter of Karen and Mario Thompson, she has two younger sisters, Gisele and Zoe.
- Gisele, who is an outside back, played with the U.S. U-17 WYNT at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India and at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic to help the USA qualify for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
- Graduated from Harvard-Westlake High School this past spring.
