Eighteen Players Named To Men’s Domestic Camp Before World Cup

CHICAGO (Sept. 22, 2019) – U.S. Men’s Beach Soccer National Team head coach Eddie Soto has called in 18 players for the team’s last domestic training camp from Sept. 22-29 in Huntington Beach as preparation continues for the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which will be played in Paraguay in November.

U.S. Men’s Beach Soccer National Team Roster by Position:

GOALKEEPERS (3): Juan Cervantes (Los Angeles, Calif.), Mike McAndrews (Long Beach, Calif.), Chris Toth (Fallbrook, Calif.),

DEFENDERS (6): Adriano Dos Santos (Baltimore, Md.), Fredo Dilbert (Miami, Fla.), Bryce Kaminski (San Clemente, Cali.), David Mondragon (Santa Cruz, Calif.), Oscar Reyes (Santa Ana, Calif.), Jason Santos (Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.),

FORWARDS (9): Chris Albiston (Virginia Beach, Va.), Alessandro Canale (Venice, Calif.), Ryan Futagaki (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Cory Keitz (Armada, Mich.), Jason Leopoldo (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Nick Perera (Carlsbad, Calif.), Lucas Roque (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Gabriel Silveira (San Francisco, Cali.), Franck Tayou (Las Vegas, Nev.)

Roster Notes:

  • The roster includes 11 of the 12 players that helped the USA qualify for the World Cup by finishing second at the 2019 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Cervantes, Toth, Dos Santos, Mondragon, Reyes, Santos, Canale, Futagaki, Leopoldo, Perera and Tayou.

  • The only player absent from the Concacaf Championship roster is Taner Akol, who sustained a knee injury at the 2019 ANOC World Beach Games qualifying tournament in El Salvador in August.

  • The roster also sees the return of goalkeeper Mike McAndrews, who along with Canale, Futagaki, Leopoldo, Perera and Toth, was part of the 2013 Beach Soccer World Cup team.

  • Albiston, Dilbert, Kaminsky, Keitz, Roque and Silveira have also been called in to various camps and played in international competitions over the last couple of years.

  • Cervantes, Reyes and Santos have participated in every camp in 2019.

  • This is the team’s third camp since qualifying, having also played matches in Italy and El Salvador since securing a berth to Paraguay.

  • Following this camp, the team will hold two more camps overseas ahead of November’s World Cup.

Drawn into Group A, the USA will face Switzerland, Japan and the host nation, Paraguay at the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

  • Thursday, Nov. 21: Switzerland vs. USA (3:50 p.m. ET)

  • Saturday, Nov. 23: USA vs. Japan (3:50 p.m. ET)

  • Monday, Nov. 25: USA vs. Paraguay (7 p.m. ET)
