FUKUSHIMA, Japan (Nov. 19, 2025) – The U.S. Women’s Deaf National Team used five goals from Emily Spreeman, Mia White’s first career hat trick, a brace from Ani Khachadourian and single strikes from Erin Cembrale and Tia LaBrecque to earn a commanding 12-0 win against Australia in the team’s second match of the Women’s Football Tournament at the 2025 Deaflympics. With the win, the USA (2-0-0; 3pts.) has booked its place in the gold medal game on November 25, but wil finish out the group stage against Great Britain (1-1-0; 3 pts.) on Saturday (10 p.m. ET; JFDA YouTube).

Though on the front foot through the entire first half, it took the USA 14 minutes to find the first goal as White slotted Spreeman into the box where she fought off an Australia defender before finishing to make it 1-0. Ten minutes later, White (pictured below) took advantage of a misplay out of the back by the Australia ‘keeper, moved past a defender and slotted into the open net.

In the 28th minute, Holly Hunter forced a turnover on the left and dribbled forward, but her initial attack was cleared away. Erin Cembrale provided her first of three assists on the day, collecting before centering for Khachadourian, who blasted a highlight-reel 25-yard effort into the top left corner.

In the 31st minute, Cembrale threaded through two Australia defenders on the left before chipping to Spreeman at the top of the area. The striker chested the ball down and hit a lethal volley inside the right post to make it 4-0. After playing provider on the previous two goals, Cembrale got one of her own, heading home a corner kick from Spreeman in the 33rd minute.

One minute later, Cembrale set up another goal, slotting White through where she rounded a defender and put home her second of the match to make it 6-0.

Approaching halftime, both Spreeman and White confirmed their hat tricks, as Spreeman poked home a rebound from close range after White’s initial attempt was saved. White collected her first career hat trick in the 45th minute, cleaning up a rebound in the box to take the USA into the break with an 8-0 lead.

It took just three minutes for the scoring to continue in the second half. One of three subs to enter at the break, veteran Kate Ward chipped a beautiful ball to Spreeman on the left side of the box, who touched her fourth of the match past the onrushing ‘keeper in the 48th minute.

In the 51st minute, substitute Sophie Post collected a ball out of the back and slotted another ball for Spreeman which she banged home for her fifth of the match. Then Khachadourian (pictured above) bagged her second in the 64th minute, finishing from the left after a great diagonal ball from Paris Price.

In the 80th minute, Post broke past her marker down the right and sent a cross for fellow substitute Tia LaBrecque who settled and lobbed one into the far right corner to close the scoring at 12-0.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • Spreeman’s five goals on Wednesday take her tournament-leading total to six and her career tally to 44 goals in 28 career appearances.
  • Recording her first hat trick, Mia White sits one behind Spreeman for the tournament lead with five goals.
  • Ani Khachadourian recorded her third multi-goal game and first since the team’s 10-1 win against England in the semifinals of the 2023 World Deaf Football Championships. She now has 10 goals in 11 international appearances.
  • Erin Cembrale provided three assists from midfield and scored her first goal since the 9-0 win against Turkey in the group stage of the 2023 World Deaf Football Championships, taking her career total to six goals and four assists in 15 caps.
  • Tia LaBrecque recorded her third international goal in her fourth apperances for the Deaf WNT.
  • The USA moves to 3-0-0 all-time against Australia.
