ALAJUELA, Costa Rica (Aug. 6, 2025) - The U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team lost 2-1 against Costa Rica in their second match of group play in the 2025 Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship on Wednesday.

The U-15 BNT's participation in this tournament reflects U.S. Soccer’s ongoing commitment to its U.S. Way , which emphasizes enhanced programming for Youth National Teams. The goal is to create more opportunities for young players to progress through the development pathway and ultimately represent the senior National Team on the global stage.

Costa Rica opened the scoring early with a goal from Herediano’s Caleb Flores. Issac Calvo started the play with an attacking run down the left flank. After a give-and-go with Kyan McDonald, he was able to cross and find Flores who slotted it into the far post.

Costa Rica followed up with a second in the 16th minute. The United States’ Finn McCraney fouled Costa Rica’s AaronMontoya, offering a penalty kick for Jefrey Urbina, which he finished past U.S. ‘keeper Emmanuel Arias.

The U.S. struck early in the second half, starting with an attacking run down the left flank by Ikenna Chidebe of the LA Galaxy. He completed the individual effort in the 38th minute by taking a low-angle, to beat Sebastian Leiva. The goal was Chidebe’s second of the tournament, his first was against Saudi Arabia on Monday. The effort from Chidebepulled the U.S. to within a goal, but they couldn’t find a second with the hosts taking a 2-1 victory.

UP NEXT: The USA will take on Canada on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. ET (9 a.m. local) in its third group stage match.
