GAME NOTES | FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT VENEZUELA

  • USMNT Starting XI Cap Numbers (including this match): Miles Robinson (31), Shaq Moore (20), Patrick Schulte (3), Benjamin Cremaschi (2) Jack McGlynn (2), Patrick Agyemang (1), Max Arfsten (1), George Campbell (1), Caden Clark (1), Brian Gutiérrez (1), Matko Miljevic (1),
  • Six starters will make their international debut today: Patrick Agyemang, Max Arfsten, George Campbell, Caden Clark, Brian Gutiérrez and Matko Miljevic.
  • The Starting XI has an average age of 23 years, 227 days and is the youngest lineup so far under USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino. Eight of the 11 are 23 and younger: Arfsten, Campbell, Milijevic and Schulte (23); Clark, Gutiérrez and McGlynn (21); Cremaschi (19).
  • The lineup also averages five caps.
  • Ten of 11 starters play in Major League Soccer, with two players each coming from CF Montréal and Columbus Crew, while Charlotte FC, Chicago Fire, FC Cincinnati, FC Dallas, Inter Miami, Philadelphia Union are also represented.
  • Miami-born midfielder Matko Miljevic recently signed for Huracán of Argentina, making him the first player to earn a USMNT cap while under contract with a club from that country.
  • The youngest player in the lineup, 19-year-old Inter Miami midfielder Benja Cremaschi, gains his second cap and first international start in his home stadium today. Cremaschi earned his USMNT debut as a substitute in the 4-0 win against Oman on Sept. 12, 2023 in St. Paul, Minn.
  • Miles Robinson (31 caps) is the most experienced player in the lineup and captains the USMNT for the second time. He previously wore the armband in last year’s friendly against Slovenia.
  • World Cup veteran defender Shaq Moore earns his first start since last year’s match against Slovenia and collects his 20th career cap, making him eligible for the National Soccer Hall of Fame upon his retirement.
  • Almost a year to the date of his debut, midfield Jack McGlynn also earns his first start in his second career cap.
  • McGlynn’s fellow 2024 Olympics veteran Patrick Schulte also earned his international debut this time last year, and the goalkeeper will seek his first career win for the USMNT this afternoon.
  • Nine starters are products of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, with five developed by MLS clubs: Max Arfsten (Cal Odyssey), George Campbell (Atlanta United), Caden Clark (Minnesota Thunder, Barca Residency Academy), Benja Cremaschi (Weston FC, Inter Miami), Brian Gutiérrez (Chicago Fire), Jack McGlynn (BW Gottschee, Philadelphia Union), Shaq Moore (FC Dallas), Miles Robinson (FC Boston Bolts), Patrick Schulte (FC Saint Louis).
  • Should Tim Ream come off the bench, it would mark the veteran defender’s first January cap since Jan. 22, 2011 against Chile.
  • Meanwhile, fellow 2022 World Cup veteran Walker Zimmerman could make his first appearance since June 18, 2023 against Canada in the Concacaf Nations League Final.
  • Three more substitutes could make their USMNT debut today: Emeka Eneli, Matt Freese and Indiana Vassilev.
  • The USA is 3W-1L-2D in six all-time meetings with Venezuela.
