ALAJUELA, Costa Rica (Aug. 8, 2024) – The U.S. Under-15 Women’s Youth National Team took first place in Group A at the 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship in Costa Rica with a dominating 13-0 victory over Haiti.

The USA will now play Canada, the Group B runner-up, in the semifinal on Aug. 9. Group B winner Mexico will play Group A runner-up Costa Rica in the other semifinal.

An overmatched Haiti side was no contest for the young Americans, who scored two goals in the first two minutes as midfielder Mia Corona blasted a ball into the net off a pass from defender Chloe Miller before 60 seconds were gone. Midfielder Kendall Conway then scored off a shot from around the penalty spot off a pass on the ground from forward KK Ream and the USA was off and running.

The USA made it 3-0 in the 17th minute from a free kick as defender Bristol Kersh served to Conway for header goal from the top of the six-yard box. In the 31st minute, defender Alex Han created the fourth goal, sprinting down the right side before playing forward Amari Manning, who took a touch around the defender into open space at the top of the box and blasted her shot into the left corner. In the 35th, Conway made 5-0, finishing off a sequence in which forward Maddie DiMaria had two shots saved.

In a match played with 35-minute halves, DiMaria got her goal three minutes into the second half off an assist from forward Mak Witham, the youngest professional player in NWSL history, who joined the U.S. U-15s from NJ/NY Gotham FC after the first two games of the tournament. Witham also created the next goal when her shot bounced off the goalkeeper’s hands and was finished by the USA’s youngest player, midfielder Loradana Paletta, in the 49th minute.

The next goal came off a penalty kick from midfielder Carolina Swann in the 54th minute. The ninth goal came from Kersh who scored from 20 yards out in the 55th minute.

Haiti then scored two unfortunate own goals before forward Carolina Reyna scored her team-leading sixth goal of the tournament, running onto a pass from defender Taylor Morrell to finish the scoring.

The USA outshot Haiti 39-2 and did not allow a shot on goal.

This year marks the fifth Concacaf tournament for this age group and the League A competition is being held in Costa Rica from Aug. 5-11. The U.S. has won all three Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championships in which it has participated (2016, 2018 and 2022).

The 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship is the largest ever, featuring 36 Concacaf nations divided into League A (eight teams competing in Costa Rica), League B (16 teams competing in Trinidad & Tobago) and League C (12 teams competing in Aruba).
