CHICAGO (January 15, 2024) – U.S. Women’s National Team forward Alex Morgan was named to the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World11 for 2023 at The Best FIFA Football Award Ceremony in London this evening.

This is the sixth such honor in Morgan’s historic career as she was also named to the FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World11 in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022. Twenty-three players were named as finalists for the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World11, including U.S. goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher. The only global soccer award decided exclusively by professional players, the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s and Women’s World11 were voted upon by over 28,000 professional players around the world.

Emma Hayes, the incoming U.S. Women’s National Team head coach and current head coach of Chelsea FC in England, was a finalist for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach for 2023, which was won by England Women’s National Team head coach Sarina Weigman.

Earning World11 recognition for the third consecutive year, Morgan started all 15 games in which she played for the USWNT in 2023, spanning 1,031 minutes, which was the sixth most in any of her 14 years on the USWNT. She scored against New Zealand in the opening match of the year and against Brazil in the final game of the SheBelieves Cup to help the USA clinch the tournament. Her five assists were tied for the team lead and her most in any calendar year with the USA since 2013. Morgan made her fourth World Cup team this year, and was co-captain with Lindsey Horan, while starting all four games in New Zealand/Australia. She finished the year 10th all-time in caps (215) and fifth all-time in goals (121) in USWNT history.

Morgan started all 19 games she played for San Diego Wave FC in the National Women’s Soccer League, spanning 1,629 minutes to help the club finish top of the standings and win the NWSL Shield. She scored seven goals during the regular season, tied for sixth in the NWSL and had five assists, which was tied for second in the league. She was named to the NWSL Best XI Second Team.
