CHICAGO (Sept. 8, 2023) – The 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final, which will decide U.S. Soccer’s 108th National Champion on Wednesday, Sept. 27, is set to kick off at 8:30 p.m. ET. Division I (Major League Soccer) sides Inter Miami CF and Houston Dynamo FC will go head-to-head to claim U.S. Soccer’s National Championship at DRV PNK Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Fans nationwide can watch English language coverage of the match on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network, as well as pre- and post-match coverage. Telemundo, a free, over-the-air TV channel, will provide Spanish-language coverage of the grand finale. Fans will also be able to watch the match on Universo and Peacock, which will both provide a 30-minute, Spanish-language pregame show. Spanish-language audio coverage will be available nationwide on Fútbol de Primera radio.

Led by reigning World Cup champion Lionel Messi, former Barcelona greats Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, and trophy-laden head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, Inter Miami enters the championship match seeking a first Open Cup title and second piece of silverware in club history. The team, which also includes U.S. Men’s National Team veteran DeAndre Yedlin and recent call-ups Drake Callender and Ben Cremaschi, has seen a remarkable recent run of results catapult the club to the inaugural Leagues Cup title and now the Open Cup Final, where it could win a second trophy in as many months.

Under the steady guidance of head coach Ben Olsen, who has won the Open Cup as a player (2008) and coach (2013), Houston’s recent run of results is the best of all MLS teams since regular season play resumed in mid-August. The team, which boasts Mexico stalwart Hector Herrera and rising Panama star Adalberto Carrasquilla, sits just two points out of second place in the Western Conference, having notched three wins and a draw in league play as well as an extra-time win in the Open Cup Semifinals. A win in the Open Cup Final would give Houston its second title after the team claimed U.S. Soccer’s National Championship in 2018.

About the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

In its 108th edition, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer's National Championship – has crowned a champion annually since 1914 (with the exception of 2020 & 21 due to COVID-19). The history-filled tournament is conducted on a single-game, knockout basis and open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor United States soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt. The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States and the world's third-longest continuously run national cup tournament.

The 2023 U.S. Open Cup winner will earn $300,000 in prize money and have the club’s name engraved on the Dewar Challenge Trophy – one of the oldest nationally-contested trophies in American team sports – now on permanent display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas. The runner-up will earn $100,000, while the team that advances the farthest from each lower division takes home a $25,000 cash prize.
