One year after collecting Player of the Year honors, midfielder Lindsey Horan put together another excellent year for club and country and has been named as one of five finalists for the 2022 BioSteel U.S. Soccer Female Player of Year.

For the second year in a row, fans will have the opportunity to vote on select Player of the Year Awards, with the fan vote comprising 15% of the total vote. Nominees for all awards are selected by U.S. Soccer’s technical staff. Voting for the awards starts Thursday, Dec. 15 at 11:00 a.m. ET and closes on Dec. 22 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced in the weeks that follow.

Let’s take a look at some of Horan’s highlights from 2022:

  • Started all 14 matches in which she played for the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2022, logging 979 minutes and captaining the squad on five occasions.
  • Horan started all five matches for the USA at the 2022 Concacaf W Championship – one of only two players on the team to do so – while helping the USWNT qualify for both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics.

  • Horan scored one goal on the year to push her career total to 26, which came following a slick dribbling move in the USWNT's 4-0 win over Nigeria on September 3.

  • Horan joined French club Olympique Lyon in January and helped the club complete the double, winning the 2021-2022 Division 1 Féminine and UEFA Women’s Champions League titles.
  • She appeared for Lyon in five Champions League matches, including playing the full 90 minutes in the final against Barcelona, a 3-1 victory for Lyon. Horan, along with her USWNT teammate Catarina Macario, became the fourth and fifth Americans to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
