USMNT REWIND: Arriola Extends Goal Streak to Five Games; Horvath Earns Premier League Promotion

Goalkeeper Sean Johnson keeps sixth consecutive clean sheet; Jordan Morris scores sixth of the season

There is little doubt that Paul Arriola enters the June international window in the best form of his career.

Arriola scored twice on Saturday, finding the net in his fifth consecutive match to help FC Dallas to a 3-1 comeback win at Orlando City on Saturday.

With Dallas trailing in the 67th minute at Exploria Stadium, Arriola knocked home Franco Jara's right-wing cross past goalkeeper Pedro Gallese for a 1-1 deadlock.

After USMNT teammate Jesús Ferreira notched the first of his two assists to set up Jara's game-winning goal three minutes later, the Dallas forward assisted on Arriola's second of the match as he buried his shot into the lower right corner to give the visitors some breathing room in the 84th minute.

Not only is Arriola enjoying the longest scoring streak of his MLS career, but he has already matched his season high goal total, tallying seven times in only 13 matches this season. He is tied with eight other players for fourth place on the league goal-scoring list.

Ferreira enters the international break tied for the MLS goal-scoring with San Jose's Jeremy Ebobisse with a career-high nine goals. He also has four assists.

MOVING ON UP

Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath and Nottingham Forest will compete in the English Premier League next season. The team defeated Huddersfield Town, 1-0, in the Championship playoff at Wembley on Sunday, to reach England's top league for the first time since 1999.

Horvath, who was a reserve for most of the season, was on the field for the final whistle as he replaced starter Brice Samba in the 89th minute. Levi Colwill's 43-minute own goal decided the match.

THE EQUALIZER

Jordan Morris scored the tying goal for the Seattle Sounders in their 2-1 comeback victory over Charlotte FC on Sunday. He headed home Alex Roldan left-wing cross past goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina in the 72nd minute. Morris has six MLS goals and six across all competitions.

MAGIC JOHNSON

Sean Johnson, who was added to the USMNT roster on Friday, continued his flawless performance for New York City FC as he recorded his club-record sixth consecutive shutout in the 1-0 win at Minnesota United on Saturday. Johnson was credited with five saves, including two with the game on the line in the 90th minute. He parried away shots by Emanuel Reynoso and Robin Lod only seconds apart.

The veteran ‘keeper hasn't conceded a goal in 540 minutes, or since the 90th minute of the 5-4 home win over Toronto FC on April 24. Former USMNT midfielder Michael Bradley was the last player to solve the 32-year-old keeper.

Johnson has eight clean sheets in 13 MLS games, one less than last year. His career high is 10, set with NYCFC in 2018.

FROM THE DEFENSE

A pair of USMNT center backs assisted on goals in wins last week.

-- Walker Zimmerman redirected Dave Romney's cross to C.J. Sapong, who scored the opening goal in Nashville SC's 3-1 win past the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. The result snapped Colorado's 23-game home unbeaten streak at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

-- During a scramble in the penalty area in the second minute, New York Red Bulls captain Aaron Long set up Patryk Klimala's goal in the 3-1 victory over Charlotte FC in the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in Montclair, N.J. on Wednesday.
