U.S. Soccer fans:
I’m writing to you today to share some exciting news. Together with the United States Women's National Team Players Association (WNTPA) and the United States National Soccer Team Players Association (USNSTPA), U.S. Soccer Federation has agreed to terms of new collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) that will run through 2028 and achieve equal pay – including equalization of FIFA World Cup prize money – for our Women’s and Men’s senior National Teams.
This is a truly historic moment. In becoming the first federation in the world to solve the massive and vexing challenge of equalizing FIFA World Cup prize money, U.S. Soccer and our players have changed the game forever here at home, with the hopes of inspiring change around the world.
In addition to equalizing prize money, these agreements include identical performance-based bonuses and appearance fees for all games and competitions and will also facilitate, for the first time ever, commercial revenue sharing with National Team players which will provide new and exciting opportunities for our players to share in the growth of the game. USWNT and USMNT players remain among the highest paid national team players in the world.
In order to achieve these historic deals, we brought the women’s and men’s unions together and I am grateful for the commitment and collaboration by our National Team players and their Player Associations. These historic CBAs set the global standard in international soccer moving forward, and much credit goes to everyone at the Federation and both Players Associations who have worked incredibly hard to make this possible.
These agreements also come at a crucially important moment for our game, with two World Cups in the next year and the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics set to take place on home soil. We now have labor peace through 2028 and have reset our relationship with USWNT and USMNT players as these agreements set a tone for an incredibly exciting new phase of mutual growth and collaboration.
As we look forward, these deals will allow us to take full advantage of the opportunities ahead and to reinvest in all levels and areas of our game. The future of soccer in the United States is incredibly bright!
Best,
Cindy
