Midfielder Sally Menti Ruled Out Of Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship

Menti Broke Her Wrist at the End of the Opening Match vs. Nicaragua and Will Not Be Replaced Per Tournament Regulations

CHICAGO (Feb. 27, 2022) – U.S. Under-20 Women’s Youth National Team midfielder Sally Menti has been ruled out of the 2022 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship due to a broken wrist suffered at the end of the team’s opening match against Nicaragua. Per tournament regulations, she will not be replaced on the roster.

 

One of four players capped at the U-20 level prior to this tournament, Menti came off the bench against Nicaragua to make her third U-20 WYNT international appearance. The Santa Clara midfielder was named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year after the 2020-21 season as the Broncos took home the NCAA Championship.

 

The USA continues World Cup qualifying today against Puerto Rico (3 p.m. ET; Fox Soccer Plus, TUDN Digital) and wraps up the group stage on Tuesday, March 1 vs. host Dominican Republic (6 p.m. ET; FS2, TUDN Digital).
