After a disappointing year in 2020, forward Jesus Ferreira came roaring back in 2021 to earn his first nomination for Chipotle U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year. The 20-year-old returned to the National Team fold and made waves for FC Dallas in Major League Soccer.
Before casting your ballot for U.S. Soccer’s 2021 Player of the Year awards, here’s a rundown of Ferreira’s body of work for country and club this year:
- Started this year off with a bang in one of the most productive performances in team history, netting his first two international goals and adding three assists in a 7-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago on Jan. 31.
- The match marked Ferreira’s second USMNT appearance. He made his debut at the end of the team’s 2020 January camp vs. Costa Rica, just after gaining U.S. citizenship in Dec. 2019.

Played a key role for the U-23 USMNT at the Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship, appearing in all four matches and netting the game-winning goal against Costa Rica in the tournament opener.
- Tore it up this season for FC Dallas, netting eight goals and logging a team-leading nine assists.
- Made his first appearance for the USMNT in official competition during November’s World Cup qualifying matches, appearing in both and helping tee up the USA’s second goal in a 2-0 win vs. Mexico.
This is Ferreira’s first nomination for Young Male Player of the Year.
