On April 10, 2021, the U.S. Women’s National Team played Sweden to a 1-1 draw in Stockholm in a meeting between two of the world’s top-five ranked teams.

Though just a friendly, the match came with a bit of history as U.S. forward Carli Lloyd earned her 300th international cap, becoming just the third player in the history of international soccer – women or men – to play 300 times for their country. Lloyd started and captained the side, playing 65 minutes on the night.

Lloyd’s 300th cap put her into an exclusive club that has just three members, the other two being her former teammates, world international appearance record holder Kristine Lilly (354 caps) and long-time U.S. captain Christie Pearce Rampone (311).

Lloyd, who debuted for the USA in 2005 at the age of 23 and now at 38, is in her 17th year of international play. Here is a look By The Numbers at her remarkable run to 300 caps.

LOTS OF WINS, GAMES AND GOALS

  • Lloyd is in her 17th year with the USWNT. In those 17 years she has been on the field in just 15 games total in which the USA has lost.

  • In games in which Lloyd has played, the USA has an overall record of 249-15-36 (W-L-D) in her 300caps.

  • 238 players have earned a cap for the USWNT in its 36-year history. Lloyd has been a part of more wins (249) than the 116 least-capped USWNT players COMBINED (247).

  • Lloyd has scored in 94 of her 300 caps. The USA has a record of 87-3-4 (W-L-D) in games in which Lloyd has scored.

  • Lloyd has registered at least one goal or one assist in 118 of her 300caps.

  • With 124 international goals and 62 assists, she has played a direct role in 21% (186 of 886) of the total goals the USA has scored in her 300 caps. By comparison, the USA has allowed 167 goals in Lloyd’s 300games.

  • A total of 238 players have earned at least one cap for the USWNT. 102 of them have played in the samegame with Lloyd.

  • Lloyd has started in 233 of her 300 caps and come off the bench 67 times.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

  • Of her 300 caps, 165 have come in the United States.

  • Lloyd has earned a cap in 27 different U.S. states along with the District of Colombia.

  • 25 of Lloyd’s 300 caps have come in California, making it the state in which she has played the most games for the USA.

  • Lloyd has earned a cap in 135 games played outside of the U.S. while playing in 14 different countries abroad.

  • The country Lloyd has played in most often outside of the USA is Portugal, where she’s earned 38 caps. For years, the USA attended the annual Algarve Cup in southern Portugal.

  • A total of 41 of Lloyd’s 300 caps have come at world championships. She has played in 25 World Cup matches and 16 matches at the Olympics. She has earned caps in every FIFA world championship since 2007 and every Olympics since 2008.
