As part of the #USMNTClassics broadcast on Tuesday, U.S. Soccer hosted a video chat with ESPN FC Analyst Adrian Healey and USMNT alums Jonathan Bornstein, Stuart Holden and special guest Charlie Davies to discuss the team's emotional 2-2 draw against Costa Rica on Oct. 14, 2009.

Held four days after the USA qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and two days after Davies was seriously injured in a fatal car accident, the trio discussed the range of emotions experienced that night, culminating with Jonathan Bornstein's dramatic 95th minute equalizer.

The memorable header pushed the USMNT to a first-place finish in the World Cup Qualifying hexagonal, and also made Bornstein an instant hero in Honduras, who leapfrogged over Costa Rica and into the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Unable to watch the match live, Davies spoke about how he processed what the squad did that night weeks later and the pride he took in seeing the resilience of his teammates that night.

“I wasn’t there, and I’ve only seen it on replay, but I have goosebumps,” Davies said, “any time someone brings up that match and that goal and seeing how you guys celebrated after. I was unconscious in the hospital, but at the time, to see how you guys could come together – you could see the love, the believe – everything was there.

“I have images stuck in my brain of Jozy lifting up his shirt and having my name with my number on his t-shirt…and you guys just celebrating being top of Concacaf. That just brought be so much joy. I was overwhelmed to the fullest just thinking about what you guys were able to accomplish on such a trying, devastating night.”
