LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2020) -- The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team fell to the Netherlands 2-1 in the de facto championship game during the final match of the 2020 Tricontinental Cup. Both teams came into the game with two wins, over China PR and Norway, but the Netherlands rode a first half goal off a corner kick and a second half penalty kick to take the inaugural tournament title.

Halftime substitute Reilyn Turner scored for the USA off an acrobatic header via a corner in the 73rd minute, but the USA could not manufacture an equalizer against a talented Dutch side. The Netherlands took just four shots to the USA’s eight, but scored on both of its shots on goal.

In the other match, Norway and China PR drew 1-1 in regulation before China won the penalty kick shootout to earn two points and finish third.
