CHICAGO (March 23, 2018) – Defender Hailie Mace, a rising senior at UCLA, has replaced Chicago Red Stars defender Casey Short on the 22-player U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the upcoming friendlies against Mexico.

The USA will take on Mexico on April 5 in Jacksonville, Fla. (7 p.m. ET; FS1 and UDN) and April 8 in Houston, Texas (12:30 CT; FOX). U.S. WNT head coach Jill Ellis will name 18 players to suit up for each of the matches.

Short injured her ankle against France in the USA’s second game of the 2018 SheBelieve Cup. She had been progressing well while training with the Chicago Red Stars during the latter part of pre-season, but suffered a minor setback and thus is not yet ready for international play.

The 5-foot-7 Mace, who hails from Ventura, Calif., recently finished a training camp with the U.S. U-23 WNT in Portland, Ore. This will be her second call-up to the senior side after first training with the U.S. team prior to the 2018 SheBelieves Cup, but she was not selected for the final tournament roster.
