Joined EFL Championship side Middlesbrough on loan from Manchester City prior to the 2022-23 season.
Served as the “Cup” goalkeeper for Manchester City from 2020-2022, appearing in 21 total matches.
Backstopped Man City to the EFL Cup championship during the 2020-21 season.
Following the 2018 season, Manchester City agreed to pay Columbus Crew a $7 million dollar transfer fee to bring Steffen to England, but stayed on loan with Columbus Crew during the first half of the 2019 season.
Upon joining Man City in summer 2019, immediately went on loan to German Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf where he played 17 matches.
Joined Columbus Crew midway through the 2016 season and went on to make 76 appearances for the side through 2019.
Earned MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, MLS Best XI and MLS All-Star honors in the 2018 season.
