NATIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
- The 2024 Olympics mark her first world championship roster at any level for U.S. Soccer.
- The least capped player on the final 18-player Olympic roster, Nighswonger earned her first call-up in late November of 2023 after an impressive debut season in the NWSL in which she earned Rookie of the Year honors and helped NJ/NY Gotham FC win the 2023 NWSL Championship.
- Made her international debut on Dec. 2, 2023, in Ft. Lauderdale, coming on midway through the second half against China PR and earned her first start three days later in Frisco, Texas.
- Scored her first international goal on Feb. 20, 2024, converting a penalty kick against the Dominican Republic in the USA’s opening game of the Concacaf W Gold Cup in Carson, Calif.
- At 23 years and 86 days old, Nighswonger became the youngest player to convert a penalty for the USWNT since 2003 and just the second ever player to score her first USWNT goal from the penalty spot, joining Kate Markgraf, who scored just once in her career.
- Also scored in the W Gold Cup quarterfinal against Colombia and tallied her first international assist on June 4 against the Korea Republic.
- Played for the USA’s Women’s Youth National Teams at the U-16, U-17, U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels and helped the USA win the 2020 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship, starting all six games. However, she never got to play in a youth World Cup as the 2020 U-20 World Cup was cancelled due to the global pandemic.
