Samantha Mewis recently earned her 50th international cap on May 26 vs. Mexico, becoming the 57th American female player to do. Four of her five career goals have been netted in 2019. Mewis will make her World Cup debut today.

Tobin Heath earned her 150th cap on May 26 vs. Mexico, marking the 22nd American female player to reach that milestone. She has scored 12 goals in her last 18 games and 10 in her last 13.Heath has a total of 30 international goals with five coming from this year, leading the team along with Carli Lloyd. The dynamic attacker will play in her third World Cup in France.
Alex Morgan will earn cap No. 164 in what will be her third World Cup. She scored a historic 100th career goal on April 4 vs. Australia and made it 101 against Belgium on April 7. She is in sixth place on the USA’s all-time goal list, surpassing Tiffeny Milbrett and Cindy Parlow. She makes her 11th appearance of 2019 today. Morgan has scored 28 goals over her last 34 WNT matches, a span that runs from the end of 2017. During that 28-goal streak, she has scored on about a quarter of her shots, scoring nine goals with her right foot, 15 with her left, three with her head and one with her chest. The 28 goals have included six braces and one hat trick.
Megan Rapinoe will captain the USA today, her first time doing so in a World Cup. She has 44 international goals and is in 15th place on the all-time goals list, just one goal short of Julie Foudy. Rapinoe had a team-leading 12 assists in 2018 and has 57 assists for her career, moving her to sole possession of fifth place on the U.S. all-time list.
The United States will play today’s match in front of a sold-out stadium of more than 21,000 fans today in Reims.
