OUR MISSION

U.S. Soccer’s 2026 FIFA World Cup legacy initiative, Soccer Forward, is a catalyst for those who strengthen communities with soccer by supporting and enabling more inclusive places to play, more soccer in schools and communities, and more people that participate in the game.

OUR CONTRIBUTION

We listened to the community and responded by focusing on providing support for the cornerstone elements of our sport.

PEOPLE – There are tens of thousands of people across America who are already bringing the benefits of soccer to their local communities. Referees, coaches, community leaders, volunteers, parents and teachers: these are the true heroes of our game, all working in service to soccer. We support those who are using soccer to change lives and strengthen communities to do their job better and reach more with tools, resources, trainings, inspiration, and development. We are by their side and on their side.

PROGRAMS – The U.S. Soccer eco-system and community organizations across America have a proud history of driving positive social outcomes through community and school engagement and other grassroots initiatives. We are committed to strengthening and scaling these proven programs, with additional resources, practical support and skills-sharing. By working together, we can inspire America today and leave a positive soccer legacy for future generations.

PLACES – The growth of soccer relies on places to play. That’s why we are working with community leaders, the U.S. Soccer ecosystem, and experts in placemaking to find and build new fields, adapt or convert places that could be used for our game; and maintain, increase access and innovate existing spaces to reach more. From providing best practice guidance and resources, to championing those already building across the country, to tailored support for individual communities, we are enabling more safe places to play across America.
